At the 23rd Annual Professional Conference of the European Partners Against Corruption/European Anti-Corruption Contact Network (EPAC/EACN), the General Assembly adopted the initiative of the Austrian Federal Anti-Corruption Office (BAK) to establish a working group to develop and standardise situation reports on corruption.

The European project "Corruption SITREP" focused on the methodology for compiling corruption situation reports, with the main objective of developing common standards for the preparation of situation reports and effective approaches for strategic corruption analysis.

The first meeting of the working group took place online on 13 February 2025, where a representative of the BAK gave a presentation on strategic crime analysis and a representative of the North Rhine-Westphalian Criminal Police Office (LKA NRW) shared practical experiences on the preparation of situation reports. On 12 March 2025, an expert from the Austrian Ministry of the Interior spoke about the experiences with situation reports from a security perspective.

The final meeting of the working group took place on 24-25 April 2025 in Vienna, at the BAK headquarters, with 30 participants from European anti-corruption authorities (Austria, Montenegro, Azerbaijan, Ireland, Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Portugal, Spain, France, Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary) and international organisations (UNODC, Europol). The National Protective Service was represented by an expert colleague from the Department for the Prevention of Corruption. The event was accompanied by a number of expert presentations which further facilitated an intensive exchange of experiences and best practices among the participants.

The results of the working group's expert work will be presented at the annual EPAC conference in November 2025 and published in a publication that will serve as a guide for the preparation of corruption situation reports.
